Types of rosacea

The cause of rosacea is unclear. It is a chronic disease, which can be controlled in most cases with appropriate treatment. Numerous treatments are in use although it is unclear which are best, and which are most appropriate for the different types of rosacea. The types of rosacea Are: erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous, and ocular. As presently worded, papulopustular rosacea is noted as often being observed following or with erythematotelangiectatic disease and phymatous rosacea as following or occurring together with either erythematotelangiectatic or papulopustular rosacea.

Treatments of rosacea

In its current iteration, the classification system excludes rosacea fulminans, steroid-induced acneiform eruptions, and perioral dermatitis without rosacea signs from the diagnosis of rosacea." Flushing and blushing are the most common types of rosacea is the early indications of rosacea in women, especially across the center of the face (cheeks and nose). This may become persistent with the passage of time. Rosacea may have a hormonal basis. Estrogen may cause the vessels to dilate and swell, increasing the appearance of flushing. At the same time, an increase in testosterone may increase the activity of the oil-producing glands on the face. Some common foods may be triggers such as cheese, spicy foods, hot drinks, alcohol, vanilla and chocolate. Temperature extremes such as sunlight or cold outdoor winds may also be contributors.

Rosacea

The RHINOPHYMA is the severe type of rosacea that develops if the condition is left untreated for a prolonged period of time. A lack of treatment allows the nodules to enlarge and gradually join together, usually over the nose. The end appearance is a swollen, red nose similar to that of an alcoholic. Rhinophyma is more common in men than women and may require plastic surgery to reconstruct the damaged skin of the nose. This is where the condition affects the eyelids resulting in a form of conjunctivitis. The inner membranes of the eyelids become inflamed causing the eyes to be sore and red. There may be a crusty build up overnight and the eyes may feel gritty and sensitive to light. There may occasionally be a loss of eyelashes.
